Can the ladder be attached to the end of the bed rather than the side?

It the ladder bolted onto the bed or does it slide on and off with a bracket? What it the clearance under the lower bed from the slats to the floor?
Hello. The ladder has metal brackets that fit over the bottom of the guard rail. The ladder is designed to be permanently attached to the bed, but you can unscrew the ladder and remove it. The clearance under the bottom bunk bed is about eight inches. Please let us know if you have any other questions!

Can you put a trundle under this bed?
